Speaker for Spiritual Emphasis will be Alton Garrison, the Executive Director of the Assemblies of God U. S. Missions. Garrison brings several years of experience to this ministry. After serving as a member on the U.S. Missions Board, he is keenly aware of challenges faced by the missionaires and chaplains.
An executive presbyter for four years, Garrison has served as superintendent of the Arkansas District since 2001. He was pastor of First Assembly of God in Little Rock, Arkansas for 15 years. From 1966 to 1985, Garrison was an evangelist. He now serves as a director on multiple ministry boards.
Garrison's ministry emphasizes three distinct and important areas: evangelizing, equipping and encouraging. As a pastor at First AG, he spearheaded extensive lay ministry involvement, which led the church in 1996 to give $1.4 million to missions.
Garrison and his wife, Johanna, have one daughter, Lizette. He authored the book Building a Winning Team. Mrs Garrison has published a book entitled Tangled Destinies.
