Life Lessons - Block 1 E-mail

BLOCK 1     September 8 - Oct 13 (6 Weeks)

The Spirit-Filled Life Pastor Pat
The first Christians turned the world upside down, shaking the gates of hell even in the face of severe persecution. People all around were “filled with wonder and amazement.” These Christians walked in a spiritual power that seems rare in the church of today. They had power to speak boldly, power to work miracles, power to endure persecution, power to say NO to temptation, and power to pray heaven down! This class will examine key elements of the “spirit-filled” life. Who is the person of the Holy Spirit? How does He function and what is His role in our lives? Are the gifts and manifestations of the Spirit for every believer TODAY? What does it really mean to be “baptized in the Holy Spirit” - and what about that “tongues thing?” Learn the power and importance of praying in your prayer language. Understand the fruit of the Spirit and how the gifts of the Spirit operate in our services and in the daily activities of life - a life in the Spirit!

Boundaries in Marriage Gary and Sue Cooper
Two lives becoming one is easier said than done. In the process of knitting two souls together, it's easy to tear the fabric. Counselors and best-selling authors Henry Cloud and John Townsend apply the principles of their Gold Medallion Award winning series, Boundaries, to help couples experience marriage at its best, a haven for mutual love, care, appreciation, and growth. You’ll learn why each partner needs to establish personal boundaries and how to go about it. You’ll discover how to protect your marriage from “intruders,” whether parents, other people, affairs, or personal idols, how to work out conflict, establish healthy communication, solve problems and deal with the struggle of each partner having differing needs.  Applying key principles from scripture, Boundaries in Marriage can help both new and seasoned couples protect their marriage and make even the best marriage better.

The Truth Project - PART 2 Bruce Malone
God continues to call ordinary people to make an eternal difference in our world. You are invited to be a part of impacting our culture for change.  We are losing our bearings as a people and as a nation. To counter this slide, Focus on the Family has launched one of its most ambitious and powerful initiatives in the history of its ministry. The Truth Project!  This 2 million dollar curriculum recently released by Focus, makes an eye opening connection between the values shaping our lives as Christians and the devastating perils our culture has been plagued with - real issues like abortion, abuse, divorce, addiction, gambling, brokenness and emotional devastation. The fight to save the family is really part of a larger battle - an overarching struggle that has raged from the very beginning - it’s a cosmic battle between truths and lies. You CAN KNOW the truth, and anyone, any family, any nation that does, WILL be free! This class is offered as a second part to last year’s “Looking at Life from a Biblical Perspective.” Having attended Part 1 is NOT a prerequisite.

Finishing Well Pastor Bill Clarkson
High degrees of stress are all too common as we are faced with the realities of needing to make decisions and offering care to our aging parents. How can assets be protected if a sudden debilitating event such as a stroke or heart attack occurs? When is the consideration of an assisted living or other facility appropriate? How can you help aging parents face these difficult realities without stripping them of their dignity? Often aging parents are fearful of becoming a “burden” on their families, but aren’t sure how to prevent it. This class will answer many of these difficult questions. In addition, information about financial assistance, living wills and durable Power of Attorney will be covered. Whether you are faced with the need to care for a loved one in your future or if you simply want to do all you can to avoid being a burden on your family as you grow older, this class will provide a wealth of information and encouragement!

All Blocks
Sanctuary Choir
Committed to a solid vision and unified purpose, the Sanctuary Choir assembles each week under the direction of Pastor Leon Beaudin and Music Assistant, Travis Fader, to lead the congregation in ministry to the Lord through praise and worship.  Weekly choral presentations and seasonal productions are designed to release God’s power into the lives of those who hear, compelling the hurting to draw near, the wayward to come home, the foundations of evil to crumble and the purposes of God to be established!  If you enjoy singing, we’d love to have you join us.

Christmas Concert During Blocks 1 & 2 Choir will begin working on Christmas music for this year’s Christmas concert with musical guest, Selah.  The choir will perform some of their Christmas favorites and join Selah in the second half of the concert! This concert will be held at CCC Friday, December 17th at 7pm.

Passion Play 2011 During Blocks 3 & 4 the Choir will be working on our Easter Passion Play.  This production will have a choir and full drama cast offering five performances starting Maundy Thursday, April 21, at 7pm, Good Friday, April 22, at 7pm, Saturday, April 23, at 3 & 7pm, with final performance Easter Sunday, April 24, at 10:30am.
Servant Leadership
Our desire is to offer relevant classes that will draw as many as possible into the Life Lessons structure so that entire families can grow and live effectively for Christ. This means increased need for nursery, children’s workers, ushers and greeters. Would you consider devoting one block to serve as an usher, greeter, children’s or nursery worker? By choosing to serve like this, Jesus said you are actually exercising leadership skills! Your willingness to serve the body helps to make it possible for a greater number of others in our church family to grow, as well.

Foundations
Foundations class will be offered during each block for those who are new to faith in Christ. This class is dedicated to providing an immediate understanding of what it means to enter into relationship with Christ and the key foundational principles that will empower every new believer to begin taking the first steps toward a lifetime of spiritual health and growth.
