Life Lessons - Block 4 E-mail

BLOCK 4   February 16 - March 23 (6 Weeks)

Revelation - Light in the Darkness PART 1 Pastor Pat Rusch
PART 1:  Patmos, Ephesus and Smyrna This class is one in a series of classes that will take an in-depth look at the seven letters to the seven churches found in the first three chapters of the Book of Revelation. In part one; we’ll explore John’s vision of the risen Christ, and the historical background leading up to that vision. We’ll also delve into the messages Jesus gave in John’s vision to the churches of Ephesus and Smyrna. “Guided tours” of both cities will explain the social and historical settings in which these early believers lived and the problems they confronted every day. It has been nearly 20 centuries since Jesus first spoke these words, yet they ring as true for us as they did for them! You’ll be amazed at the enormity of the challenges these early believers faced and the ultimate outcome of those who remained faithful. You’ll go on a journey of twists and turns through various aspects of early church history, proving that regardless of the kind or frequency of attacks against God’s people, darkness simply doesn’t have the power to overcome the light!

Children & the Holy Spirit Pastor Bill Clarkson
Four phone calls in six weeks: “My fourth grader just returned from camp and he is speaking in tongues,” “My 5 year old just laid hands on me, prayed and I was healed,” “My older children go to my six year old and ask how to pray about things. “My grandchild spent the weekend with us and was singing songs in a language we couldn’t understand.” The Psalmist states that it is from the lips of children and infants that God ordains praise, worship and prayer for the purpose of spiritual warfare. The Prophet Joel states that God pours out his Spirit on “ALL” flesh, not just TALL flesh. Holy Spirit baptism and ministering under God’s anointing is not reserved exclusively for adults and teenagers, but can be experienced by children of ALL ages. This class will explore the move of the Holy Spirit in children and what the scripture has to say about it. Most importantly, parents and grandparents will learn how to recognize, encourage and nurture the Spirit’s work! You’ll also hear the testimonies of several parents that have walked the amazing journey of enjoying the presence of the Lord in their children from as young as five, six and seven years old.

Parents and Teens Talk Sex PART 1 Kathy Worsley
When it comes to sex, the rules have changed - dramatically. Risky sexual behaviors including early sexual debut and multiple partners put youth at risk for HIV/AIDS, STI’S and non-marital pregnancy. In this class, parents learn how to communicate effectively with youth about avoiding risky sexual behaviors, their consequences and promote abstinence. You will be empowered with medically accurate sexual health information to begin a lifelong conversation with your child about sex and healthy relationships. Push back the fear of cultural influence and confidently step into the place of being a powerful, loving authority on this topic in YOUR home.  Kathy is a former Client Services Director from Pregnancy Resource Center and School Health Educator.

Breathtaking or Burdensome Chad & Jamie Eyre
Ministry can be as uplifting and exciting as hang gliding, or as burdensome and boring as rolling a rock up a mountain. Being involved in ministry IS important, but so is ENJOYING it! We’ll take a look at God’s heart for those who serve Him and His promise to energize and empower those who do! You’ll develop a renewed passion for whatever God has called you to do and receive the practical tools to sustain that passion over time. We’re sure it will be engaging, practical and a breath of fresh air! So if you are involved in ministry in any capacity (or thinking about it), this is an opportunity you’ll be glad you didn’t miss!

Creating MORE Community - the Ultimate Experience
In the tradition of “Creating Community” this class will provide you with six more opportunities to meet some new friends and enjoy fellowship together. A different event will be planned each week specially designed to give you a fellowship experience that’s fresh and meaningful. It may be dinner, a board game, or a special night out. One thing’s for sure, you’ll get to know people, meet new friends and enjoy each other’s company. Our time together is not designed to teach you a lot of biblical information, but to give you an opportunity for biblical connection by putting you in touch with others in the body. Our hope is that maybe one of the CONNECTIONS you make will grow into a FRIENDSHIP that will eventually lead you to experience COMMUNITY.

All Blocks
Sanctuary Choir
Committed to a solid vision and unified purpose, the Sanctuary Choir assembles each week under the direction of Pastor Leon Beaudin and Music Assistant, Travis Fader, to lead the congregation in ministry to the Lord through praise and worship.  Weekly choral presentations and seasonal productions are designed to release God’s power into the lives of those who hear, compelling the hurting to draw near, the wayward to come home, the foundations of evil to crumble and the purposes of God to be established!  If you enjoy singing, we’d love to have you join us.

Christmas Concert During Blocks 1 & 2 Choir will begin working on Christmas music for this year’s Christmas concert with musical guest, Selah.  The choir will perform some of their Christmas favorites and join Selah in the second half of the concert! This concert will be held at CCC Friday, December 17th at 7pm.

Passion Play 2011 During Blocks 3 & 4 the Choir will be working on our Easter Passion Play.  This production will have a choir and full drama cast offering five performances starting Maundy Thursday, April 21, at 7pm, Good Friday, April 22, at 7pm, Saturday, April 23, at 3 & 7pm, with final performance Easter Sunday, April 24, at 10:30am.

 Servant Leadership
Our desire is to offer relevant classes that will draw as many as possible into the Life Lessons structure so that entire families can grow and live effectively for Christ. This means increased need for nursery, children’s workers, ushers and greeters. Would you consider devoting one block to serve as an usher, greeter, children’s or nursery worker? By choosing to serve like this, Jesus said you are actually exercising leadership skills! Your willingness to serve the body helps to make it possible for a greater number of others in our church family to grow, as well.

Foundations
Foundations class will be offered during each block for those who are new to faith in Christ. This class is dedicated to providing an immediate understanding of what it means to enter into relationship with Christ and the key foundational principles that will empower every new believer to begin taking the first steps toward a lifetime of spiritual health and growth.
