Life Lessons - Block 4 E-mail

BLOCK 4   February 17- March 10 (4 Weeks) Up to Easter

Living with a Renewed Mind Pastor Pat Rusch

In Romans 12, the Apostle Paul points out that when it comes to living a life of spiritual health, freedom and joy, being “born again” is only half of the equation! Spiritual transformation only comes from renewing our minds. Many chronic behavioral problems, spiritual and emotional strongholds keep people in bondage, often because we “treat the symptoms” rather than the root cause. The net result is like plucking the heads off of dandelions—it looks good for the rest of the day, but by tomorrow, there they are again! Many believers wear themselves out “TRYING to live free.” Through the use of hundreds of color graphics, understand like never before, how you and those you love can gain spiritual freedom, healing from the past, and walk in victory like never before! “I’ve heard sermons for the better part of 50 years; I do not recall a more concise, informative, clarifying presentation on the topic of how God can live in us… I will never, ever be the same!”  - Randy Stauffer CCC

Parenting: The Early Years Pastor Kelly Presson

Most parenting classes answer the age-old question: “What can I DO to be a better parent?” This class explores the question: “How can I BE the parent I want to be?” The truth is, who you ARE matters more than what you DO! Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott, bestselling authors featured on ABC’s Good Morning America, Focus on the Family and Oprah, will guide you to discover ten Biblical traits that will make you a better parent, AND give you practical insight that will help you pass on these key traits to your kids! In reality TV style, their team took cameras into the homes of twenty families and captured real life parenting moments. Some of these are funny and some are just completely honest. You’ll view parenting from different perspectives—married, single and blended families.  Expecting parents and grandparents raising grandkids will also benefit from this class. When your kids are all grown, how will they remember you?

Breathtaking or Burdensome Chad Eyre
Ministry can be as uplifting and exciting as hang gliding, or as burdensome and boring as rolling a rock up a mountain. Being involved in ministry IS important, but so is ENJOYING it! We’ll take a look at God’s heart for those who serve Him and His promise to energize and empower those who do! You’ll develop a renewed passion for whatever God has called you to do and receive the practical tools to sustain that passion over time. We’re sure it will be engaging, practical and a breath of fresh air! So if you are involved in ministry in any capacity (or thinking about it), this is an opportunity you’ll be glad you didn’t miss!

Creating MORE Community Larry & Ginny Schuelke

In the tradition of “Creating Community” offered in BLOCK 2, you’ll be given six fresh opportunities to get to know people, meet new friends and grow relationships beyond the veneer of a Sunday morning handshake. The answer is found in Creating Community. This is more of an experience than a class. Our time together is not designed to teach you a lot of biblical information, but to give you an opportunity for biblical connection by putting you in touch with others in the body. Each week you’ll spend a few minutes getting to know five or six new friends around your table. Six weeks –six different experiences. Our hope is that maybe one of the CONNECTIONS you make will grow into a FRIENDSHIP that will eventually lead you to experience COMMUNITY. Refreshments will be served each week.

MORE Bodies by Christ Renee’ Gerulski

Similar to classes offered in BLOCKS 2 and 3, this class has been designed to target the body, soul AND spirit. Every week begins with a solid bible-based teaching followed by a carefully crafted workout including cardio, kickboxing and body sculpting targeting small and large muscle groups. Class will continue with a core conditioning workout utilizing the abdominals and lower back and finish with stretching.  Some weeks will include a ten minute “Ab Attack!” In later classes small free weights or exercise balls may be used.  THIS CLASS IS COED AND IS APPROPRIATE FOR ALL FITNESS LEVELS. Renee’ is a certified instructor and teaches regularly at the Midland Community Center.

All Blocks
Sanctuary Choir

Committed to a solid vision and a unified purpose, the Sanctuary Choir assembles each week under the direction of Pastor Leon Beaudin to lead the congregation in ministry to the Lord through praise and worship. Weekly choral presentations and seasonal productions are designed to release God’s power into the lives of those who hear, compelling the hurting to draw near, the wayward to come home, the foundations of evil to crumble and the purposes of God to be established! If you enjoy singing and have a heart to worship, we’d love to have you join us.

Christmas Concert
During Blocks 1 & 2 Choir will begin working on festive Christmas music that will open this year’s Christ concert with Phillips, Craig & Dean. Two performances will be held at CCC on Friday, December 17th and Saturday, December 18th at 7:00PM.

Passion Play
During Blocks 3 & 4 the Choir will be working on our Easter Passion Play, The Easter Song. This production will have a choir and full drama cast offering five performances March 25-March 28, 2010.

Servant Leadership

Our desire is to offer relevant classes that will draw as many as possible into the Life Lessons structure so that entire families can grow and live effectively for Christ. This means increased need for nursery, children’s workers, ushers and greeters. Would you consider devoting one block to serve as an usher, greeter, children’s or nursery worker? By choosing to serve like this, Jesus said you are actually exercising leadership skills! Your willingness to serve the body helps to make it possible for a greater number of others in our church family to grow, as well.

Foundations
Foundations class will be offered during each block for those who are new to faith in Christ. This class is dedicated to providing an immediate understanding of what it means to enter into relationship with Christ and the key foundational principles that will empower every new believer to begin taking the first steps toward a lifetime of spiritual health and growth.
