December 2010 Update E-mail

1. Our building expansion is quickly moving along.  The addition was “enclosed and winterized” the first week of December.  Brick work is currently being completed on the exterior, and progress on the interior is happening rapidly.  Drywall is being hung, electricians are completing their wiring runs and HVAC duct work is being finalized.

2. Our projected move-in date is February 1st.

3. On the financial front, we have had several exciting things happen:
a. The capital campaign continues to go well, with our giving towards the $1.5 million pledge at $547,350 as of Sunday, December 12th.
b. During December, we will receive a grant from the Dow Foundation of $7500 to help us along with the project.
c. Because of our continued strong contributions to the “Growing the Celebration” campaign, we will not have to utilize the $700,000 Wolverine Bank loan to fund the project until approximately the move in date of February 1st.  This is a major Praise the Lord!!!
d. Our original projected cost for the expansion was $2.4 million dollars.  We have gained significant savings through the subcontractor bidding process, the construction contract negotiations with Gerace, and the pricing of technology and furniture.  Today, I am pleased to tell you that the new projected cost is $1.884 million dollars, a savings of $516,000!!!

4. Due to the congregation’s strong giving in the capital campaign, as well as the savings gained over the past several months, I am also excited to announce that we have decided that we have the money on hand to go ahead with Phase 3 of the project.  This means that we will be able to move into the ENTIRE new section of the building on February 1st.

5. Two additional items that I would like to bring to your attention:
a. We have decided to schedule the renovation of the Fellowship Hall for early February, taking down the Wonder Church and Dance Room walls, in time for the Wild Game Dinner on February 26th.
b. The main restrooms on the main floor will undergo a major overhaul from February 1st through April 1st, and will be ready in time for the Passion Play on Easter Weekend.  These transformations will double the size of our existing restrooms on the main floor.
c. The costs for both of these changes have been figured into the total project amount of $1.884 million.

6. As you plan your year-end giving, please consider taking the opportunity to fulfill the first year of your “Growing the Celebration” commitment.
