Why Mission Trips?
Probably the most effective way to grow your passion for missions is to expose yourself firsthand to the need. You can hear about missions, read about missions, listen to sermons about mission, look at pictures and even view video footage, but when you experience missions firsthand, it's a whole new thing. That's why many people who go on their first trip tend to continue to go on trips in the future.Aren't you glad Jesus didn't just send a little help from heaven when we so desperately needed redemption? What a compassionate God we have who would leave the splendor and security of heaven, take on the form of a man, bend down and actually crawl into our world! We celebrate the beauty of this every Christmas. That's the Jesus that is in US! Most are not called to devote themselves to a career in missions, yet I believe there is a new depth that can come into a believer's life when we are willing to leave the comfort of our routine and connect to the real needs of others, whether it's across an ocean, or just across town.Difficulty securing necessary finances and negotiating time off work tend to be the most challenging hurdles for people desiring to go on missions trips. I have observed, while working with many individuals over the years, that developing dependence upon God during the process of raising necessary funds, is in itself, a life-changing faith journey! From a practical perspective, we've attempted to address these common concerns a number of ways that we trust will be a blessing to you. We have planned many domestic and LOCAL missions outreaches to offer a missions experience at a minimum investment of time and finances. Many ongoing outreach opportunities are also available. Secondly, we have established a missions trip schedule well in advance to make it as easy as possible for you to plan your finances and secure the necessary time off work. We should keep in mind, however, even though these trips are well researched, that over an 18-24 month period of time, costs and even dates could fluctuate some for reasons out of our control.
